Ax themeeting yesterday re the Finance Question, Crs McGowan and Mennie were of opinion that the bank had treated the Council unfairly. We have no hesitation in saying that this opinion is borne out by facts. The Borough was never in a better position than it is now, either in assets or liabilities, and it is therefore a strange thing that the banks should refuse to advance them money. If proper measures had been taken we have little doubt the money could be procured, for fair security could have been offered. While the Borough was " flush " the bank was anxious to do business with them, and after getting all it could from such a good customer, has now turned and forsaken its old friend.
