Variety Entertainment.

There was a good attendance at the Academy of Music last evening to witness the variety performance of Mr P. Doran's troupe. The first portion of the programme was much the same as on Saturday, the singing and dancing of the Elder brothers being th^e leading feature. The performance concluded with the burlesque of " Pinafore," which was one of the most exquisite pieces of buffoonery we have witnessed for some time. Mr R. Lore assumed the role of Sir Joseph Porter, and sang the songs incidental to his part in a finished manner, " When I was a lad," "So ribald, get thee hence,' 1 successively bringing down the house. Mr Williams as the Captain was very successful, in the song " Fair moon I sing to thee," the moon on this occasion being a bottomless saucepan illuminated by a candle held by Mr Doran, who as boatswain kept the fun alive with his by play. The youngest Elder played Little Buttercup in a manner conducive to the success of the piece and the other characters were well cast. The applause of the audience at the lowering of the curtain testified to their appreciation of the entertainment. To-night this talented comppay will give another performance, introducing several new features. The performance will finish up with a dance, to which holders of stalls t.nd gallery tickets will be admitted free and the charge to others will be one shilling.
