A meeting of the Conservative parl.7 was held to-day, at which the Earl of Beaconsfiold made a speech. His Lordship referred to tho result of the elections and said he could only attribuf3 the defeat of the Conservatives io the desire felt by tee electjrs for a change of Ministry. Ha stated that he would retain the leadership of his parLy, and advocated a dignified oppositiou* to the Liberals, and the formation of proper local Conservative organisations throughout the country. The war ship Finisterre has sailed for Melbourne with French exhibits for the forthcoming Exhibition. Chili, May 20. The ship Antipodes has put into Valparaiso in a leaky state, having to discharge her cargo during repairs being effected.
