BLENHEIM.
Last night.
WAIRAU VALLEY DIGGINGS.
The workings on the new diggings in the Wairau Valley are at present confined to the bed of the creek. There are about sixty men working *" there, all of whom have taken up claims, but they are much troubled with large boulders in the creek, of such size that they cannot be removed. About five claims are paying well. The proprietors of one of them obtained 14. ounces in the course of a morning about a fortnight ago. On the other hand, there are a great many more claims on which the men are barely making a living. Morgan, who prospected the creek, has been out prospecting between the diggings and Wakamariua tor the last month, and returned last week without having been able to find any payable ground ia his travels.
