Concert.

A concert in aid of the funds of the Grahamstowa Wesleyaa Sunday School took place iv the Academy of Music last evening. There was a crowded auditory, and the entertainment was a signal 1 success in every respect. The singers were all well prepared, and the programme was carried out in its entirety. The proceedings opened with a piano selection J by Mr L. W. Parsons, who also acted as ' accompanist through the evening. Tbis was followed by " The Huntsman's Chorus," by the choir, sang in very good style, and then Mr C. Brown rendered I "Nil Desperandum" in his usually efficient manner. The song " Give me Freedom Ever " by Mrs May (tide Miss Cleave) was exceedingly well received, and an encore being demanded, the lady substituted "Willie at the Door." Mr .Robinson's rendition of "My Grandfather's Clock " was excellent, and being encored he gave " Here upon my vessel's \ deck," which also receiv I well meiited applause. After a glee by the choir Mr Wiseman gave two of his popular comic songs, " Simon theCeliarer " and " Widdy McChree." One of the greatest successes , of the evening was the trio " Ye Shepherds " by Miss Gribble and Messrs Brown and Robinson. A song " Strangers) Yet" by Miss Gribble followed; after which Mr Ibbetson sang " The beautiful girl of Kildare"—a piece well suited to his voice. The young singer was enthusiastically encored, and he gave "Kitlarney" in good style. In the duet by Mrs May and Miss Gribble—•" The Convent Bells" the voices of both ladies were heard to advantage. After another glee the National Anthem was sung, and the Bey. Mr Watkin came forwarded and tharked the ladies and gentlemen who had contributed to the evening's amusement. He announced that the distribution of gifts would take place. ' Mr G. A. Buttle fulfilled the onerous duties of distributer, and a large number of articles both useful and ornamental were distributed amongst the audience. The balance of the presents will be dispos i of by a Dutch auction, to be held in the Sunday Schoolroom this evening.
