This day. j The Gem puzzle mania is spreading in Auckland, and a large number is being sold. The Bishop of Melanesia leaves on Friday for Norfolk Island. The Harbor Board yesterday resolved to communicate with the Hon. T. Bi'assey, President of the Board of Trade with the view of urging the facilities of Auckland as a coaling station and depot in the South-Pacific, also to forward Dt Hector's report on tho coal deposits of the North.

The Board have reduced the dues on sulphur ore to one shilling per ton. .
