HAPE CREEK.

For several months Heain aud party who have a tribute in the Haps Creek ground, have been engaged ia sinking a

shaft for tha purpose of intersecting the Lord, Ashley reef, which in the early day's of the gold Held produced such good returns, The shaft has been put down to a depth of 100 feet below creek level and driving started on the lode. The first crushing of 13 loads was finished yesterday at Greenville's battery for the satisfactory return of 37ozs 18dwts gold. Stoping will be commenced next week. The lode is 18 inches thick, and the tributers think there is plenty -of gold at this depth. All the water has to be wound by a whim which is sometimes kept going 16 hours out of the 24. The tributers think that they should be allowed a portion of their gold, duty to remunerate them for the heavy cost of drainage and indeed to this they seem as much entitled as larger mining ventures. The discovery of payable gold at this depth is likely to have a good effect on the Hape Creek district. A party of miners J>ave taken up a piece of ground adjoining the Hape creek claim, and called it

THE CITY OF BRADFORD. The proprietors have driven a considerable distance from Hearn's shaft, and are* now now working on the Ashley reef in their own ground, some nice stono being obtained. The quartz from the lode is of a dark blue color, and some first class specimens were obtained'during the accumulation of Hearn's crushing. It is hoped that the local body interested will assist these men in their enterprising endeavors to prospect the lower levels of this part of the field.
