KURANUI HILL.

The shift of men started yesterday to clean out the compauy's workings at No. 3 level, but they had to clear out in consequence of the gas, caused by thechauging of the wind. The manager has at present men employed-working on the No. 3 lode near the Moanatairi boundary. The lode is split, but in all there is about two feet wide of solid quartz, the foot wall portion, which is three inches in thickness producing the best stone. The crushing from the Oddfellow's lode is now finished and retorting will take place as soon as the tailings are through; an average of about 2ozs per ton is expected.
