AUCKLAND
This day. The County of Waitemata —Tke Council of Trouble. The auditor has refused to pass the accounts of the Waitemata County Council, which voted and deducted £1 for each attendance for travelling expenses. The Council will consult the AttorneyGeneral. The Civil Service Commission yesterday examined Mr A. Y. Macdonald, the General Manager of Bail ways, and Mr Bando, the Railway Storekeeper.
A complimentary dinner was given last night at the Northern Club to Commodore Wilson and the officers of H.M.S. Wolverine, and to Captain Chuden and the officers of the German warship Nautilus. Several members of both Houses of Par* liament were present.
Sir George Grey. Sir George Grey's Central Committee will meet to>day and make arrangements for a public meeting.
Mr Reader Wood, M.H.K., addresses a meeting on Friday evening.
At the Police Court to-day a milkman was charged with mixing water with his milk with intent to defraud. The case adjourned.
