Great Naval Battle.
Arica has been bombarded by the Chilian Navy, but the attacking ships Huascar and Magallants received unexpectedly severe treatment from an old American built monitor Mouca Copac, hastily put in service, and handled by Captain Moore, of the ill-fated >Peruvian war-vessel Indeperdencia. After half a dozen shots from the Kodman suns carried by the monitor, the Chilian ships got out of range. The blockade, was forced by the Peruvian corvette Union, alter fighting seven hours with the Chilian ironclad and transport. Callao will be blockaded or bombarded. The Peruvian army at Toi-ato was defeated. The counter revolution in the Bolivian camp, Ea., has been restored.
Mosquequa Occupied, Mosquequa was occupied wiihou£ resistance by 14,000 Chilians. It is reported however, that they had fallen into a Peruvian ambush, and had' been defeated.
