AUCKLAND.

Last night

At a meeting of Auckland grain merchants held at the auction mart of Messrs Tonka and Carr at three o'clock this afternoon the following resolution, proposed by Mr Jakius, and seconded by Mr Coupland, was carried unanimously :—" That in future the weight per bushel of whole maize be fixed at 561bs, and of crushed maize at 501b5." Mr Coupland moved, Mr Sibbin seconded, and it was carried that the chairman (Mr Tonks) notify the change by advertisement.

A new public school was to-day opened at Parnell, to accommodate 400 pupiis. Mr F. J. MossJ M.H.E., delivered an address.
