WAIOTAHI CREEK.
.Notwithstanding the great facilities provided for miners in the Waiotahi Creek district by the fine cut road to the beaa Of the creek, mining does not appear lo be flourishing. Several small claimholders are making wages, the best of them perhaps being the Hopeful claim, ovrned by Howse and party. Some time ago Joy and party were doing very well in the Luck's All, but returns have been scanty of late. It is stated that a project is ou foot to work this and an adjoining claim by a company to be formed. The new company, the Victoria, formed for the purpose of working the Vale of Avoca and other long since abandoned claims, has commenced driving to cut the Vale of Avoca reef, which the manager expects to do in a day or so, and i* confident of its remunerative character. Should his expectations be realised, no doubt other mines will soon be in full swing in its vicinity, where there are plenty of reefs which, according to the traditional lore of miners, in the early days yielded returns which with the present good road communication would prove remunerative.
