MelSoubne, April 13.
Mr W. J. Clarke gave £1000, and Messrs Army tags and Payne £500 each, to St. Paul's Cathedral. A deputation from the Exhibition Commissioners has represented to the Government that the gross expenses would be £320,000, of which it is expected there will be recouped £70,000. Mr Service said the Government felt bound to pull the committee through, and consented to the full amount asked. Carlotta Patti was serenaded last night. Stdnbt, April 4. For the recent extraordinary assault on a bailiff, killing his horse, and assaulting the landlady who sheltered him, at Albury, James Casey was sentenced to seven and three years' imprisonment, and Owen Caiey to three years. The Governor and Lady Loftus gave their first ball yesterday.
