Sale of Te Aroha land.

On Wednesday last the Chief Commissioner of Waste Lands held a land sale at Auckland, when land in the parish of Tuakau and Te Aroha survey district were submitted to public competition undfr the deferred payment system. The Te Aroha land sold comprised blocks XI and XII, and from the subjoined list of the result of the sale it will be seen that a number of Thames and Ohinemuri residents, including Messrs Taylor, Tharter, Murphy, and Stanley, are amongst the purchasers. The total area disposed of was 1495 acres, and in sereral instances the sections realised considerably more than the upset price. The following list gives the acreage of each section, price, and purchaser:—

Block xi. Lot 9, 292 - 3r 26p, upset price £588; sold to Messrs Taylor and Thaxter, the only applicants, for the npset price. Lot 10, 255 a3r 6p, upset price £512 ; bought by Mr D. McCabe for £513. Lot 11,171 a lr, upset price, £342 10s; bought at the upset price by James Jackson. Lot 13, 266 a 3r, upset price £533 10s; bought by Mr O'Donoghue for £534105. BLOCK XII. Lot 15, 78a, upset price £156; bought by D. Murphy for £251. Lot 16, 78a 2r, upset price £157; bought by W. H. Reynolds for £180. Lot 18,100 a2r 32p, upset price £201 10s; bought at the upset price by J. Borrie. , " Lot 26, 74a, upset price £148; bought by Mr McKinley at the upset price. Lot 27,109 a, upset price £218; bought at the upset price by W. H. Leckie.
