Attempted Suicide.

A Christchuroh man, name unknown, in the employ of Mr Holmes, of Mount Harding, cut his throat on Wednesday. He lies iv a rery precarious state. It is belie?ed that drink was the cause. Walking Match. A seven mile walking match was arranged between Boy ley, of Christchurch, aud O'Connor, of Timaru, for £100 a-side.
At the Supreme Court the jury gave a verdict for plaintiff for £75 iv the case of
Mulhane v O'Mally. The plaintiff to pay costs,
A man ilamed Joseph Lirnini had his leg broken yesterday by a fall of earth at the Blent Terrace Drain. Last night. The Licensed Victuallers. At a meeting of Licensed Victuallers this afternoon a question of forming a Licensed Victuallers Insurance company was discussed. The matter was allowed to stand over, however, and in the meantime data will be collected and presented to a conference which meets early in June. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Commissioner of Police, requesting that active steps be taken in connection with sly grog selling.
