NEW NORTH DEVON.
A few days ago the stock of this mint ;■ received a reverse in consequence-'of the rumor of the non-success of the negociation with the Columbia, and rumors - circulated by interested parties. It is * picking up again, however. It will be ? * remembered that when the- tributers Garvey and party took their block, they sank a winze on the reef at the Whau level, and then opened oat a level on the lode, driving east and west, meeting with good prospects at both ends. They are now engaged sinking a wime in the intermediate lerel.about 25 feet from the western face. The point of commence* ment is about the spot where, it will be remembered 2001bs of specimens were obtained a few weeks ago. The winze has been sunk 16 feet, and the precious metal carried down the whole way. The lode is two or three feet thick, well, mineralised, and altogether the prospects met with are most encouraging, and the shareholders have every reason to besatisfied with their property. ,!
