Colonel Colthurst, M.P., a Home Ruler, has been refused membership of the Reform Club. More than 300 members of the club voted on the occasion.
Prince Bismarck's little grandson is reported in so precarious a state of health that his life is well-nigh despaired of. He was christened in extreme haste lately, in order that he might not die unbaptised. The able war correspondent of a daily paper, at the fancy dress ball at the Mansion House the other evening, went as an Affghan chief, in a real bona jide dresi that he had picked on a battle field; and, being very shortsighted, he created quite an impression by wearing an eyeglass. The idea of an Afghan chief with an eye-gla?s is delicious. The queen will, it is expected have the opportunity of performing a graceful act in connection with lady artists. As already stated, the Royal Academy has passed a resolution to admit ladies to the honors of the society ; but it appears that the decision cannot have official effect until Her Majesty gives her consent. We have no doubt she will do this, for A she ii a lover and patron of art. At this we have lady artists of the first raak, whose election would be at least as much of an honor to the Academy ai to themselves. The bodies of two martyrs from the Catacombs of Home have been received by the Sisters of Charity, Quebec. One is that of St. Olyrapine, from the Cataoomb of St. Priscilla, and the other is that of St Severin, from the Catacomb of St. Calixte.
