THE MUNICIPAL FIASCO.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sib—The report of the Borough Council meeting last night is exceedingly entertaining—it reads like an old description of "Baiting the Bear," where the Bear (of course being chained to his post) was worried and insulted by stumpy " McTowzer " and the lurcher " Snap." Joking apart I think the burgesses are satisfied that the Mayor tried to get the rexed question of the Domestic Water Supply settled, and if the Councillors did not approve of the terms it would have been much more to the interest of the inhabitants, to propose amendments rather than bicker and quarrel as they hare done. I consider the Mayor has been treated by a few of the Councillors in a most intuiting and ungentlemanly manner —but then McTowzer and Snap cannot be expected to understand that. I venture to say that on an appeal to the people, Mr Ehrenfried (who although not without failings) has acted fairly and honestly for the public good, will be reelected by an overwhelming majority.— I am, &c,
Sam.
