The steamship Wakatipu has arrired. Seven stowaways were found aboard after her departure from Welington.
In the Legislative Council last night a letter was read from the Hon. W. B. Dalley tendering his resignation.
An anti-Chinese meeting was held last night at which a petition to Parliament was adopted, praying for the immediate passage through the Legislature of an Act of one clause requiring the steamer Brisbane, now in quarantine here with 215 Chinese, and with some cases of small pox on board to depart immediately without discharging, under a penal iy of £20,000.
Bbibbane, This day. A commission has been appointed to enquire into the cause of the heavy mortality which has tiken place amongst the kanakas on a pleatation near Mary* borough.
