This day.
The party by the Blanche reached Kawau at 2.30 yesterday, and were met at the wharf by Sir George Grey, who it now in capital health and spirits. The visitors were shown orer the house, and the principal paintings and books were pointed out to them. Sir George walked for miles over the island, pointing out the old native pahs and relating quaint legends and stories of the olden time. The old copper mine was visited, and quartz and manganese lodes inspected. Bir George Grey intends shortly going South to Canterbury and Invercargill, having had numerous invitations.
The party leav© Kawau at noon, calling at Waiwera and then home.
Sir George made a present of books to the Thames public library, and gave visitors a number of plants, seeds, etc.
