The Oriental Bank Corporation pays a dividend of two per cent, for the half year. ■ -r The bank of South Australia pays 5| per cent, and carries forward £8,000. London, April 1. The general elections continue. 90 Liberals and 61 Conservatives have now been returned for the new Parliament. The Liberals so far have gained 25 seats which were held in last Parliament by Conservatives, and the latter have gained 9 seats formerly held by Liberals. The election for Birmingham resulted in the return of Messrs J. Bright, Muntz, and Chamberlain, formerly liberal mem' bers for Hackney. The late liberal members, Messrs Holmes and .Fawcett, have alao been re-elected for West* minster. . ' The right Honorable W. H. Smith, First Lord of the Admiralty and Sir Charles Russell, Conservative members have been again returned. The publicans and English Catholics, from Norfolk downwards, Bupport the. Tories.
Tipperary and New Ross have offered to return Sir Charles Gavan Duffy to Parliament. -
