THE Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT YOUR FOUR O'CLOCK P.M. Resurrexi. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 1880.

A notification appeared in our columns yesterday from the Registrar of the Thames Electoral District, A. J. Allom, Esq., stating that forms of application to bo placed upon the new roll could be obtained at his office. A new. feature has been introduced into the present Act, • namely, requiring the occupation of the elector to be stated, so that it will require persons wishing to have their names enrolled either to call upon the Eegistrar and supply that information, or to fill up a form in accordance with the schedule of the Act. Attention is required to this matter, as if the. necessary information is not supplied the registrar will be compelled to omit many names, and at election times great dissatisfaotion will no doubt be expressed by those who through neglfgence have forfeited their rights. Many persons on the rolLat present are personally.known to the registrar^ and that gentleman may make tho additions required by the act, but it will be solely through his goodnature, and his desire to make the roll as complete as possible ; but if electors are disfranchised they will only have themselves to blame after the repeated warnings we have:given. Schedule 245 to the Act requires the;name, place of abode, and ioccupation of each applicant, which will jpractically make the roll a local directory ;ahd a useful means of reference. Under ■• The Qualification of Electors Act' , every man of the age of twenty-one years lor upwards who has resided for-one year jn the colony,'and in an electoral district for six, months, is entitled to be registered a,s an elector. This is called the presidential qualification. The freehold qualification prescribed by the Act is as follows -.—Every man of the age of twenty-one years or upwards having of ■his: owa right a freehold estate in posses•sion situate within the electoral district of ;the value of twenty-five pounds, and of or "to which he has been seized or entitled either at law or in. equity for at least sis calender months. Mr Allom has been {instructed that it is the intention of 'Government to bring the new roll into force on the Ist May next. Such being \th& case no time should be lost by ipersons desirous of securing the right to \ vote at the next election for members for ;the General Assembly.
