Auckland, This day.
Mr Ehrenfried, Mayor of Thames, and Mr Sheehan, member for that district, waited on Hon. Messrs Hall and Eolleston, and requested a reimbusment of two thousand three hundred pounds, alleged to have been wrongfully deducted from sums paid to the Borough during the last three years for charitable purposes. They also requested that Government refund the five hundred pounds promised by Mr Sheehan when Native Minister, and expended by the Thames people on the faith of the promise. The matter was referred to Mr Bryce. The deputation applied to have the Orphan's Home proclaimed under the Neglected and Criminals Children Act 1867. Mr Eolleston agreed to arrange it forthwith.
Application was made for the fulfilment of the agreement made by the Provincial
Government to transfer the Grahamstown and Tararu tramway to the local authorities. An pnquiry was promised.
