THE DOCTORS' CONSPIRACY.

To the Editor of the Evim'G Stab.

Sib, —I beg leave to correct Mr Martin in reference to one or two errors con« tamed in his letter in last evening's Star. He is in error in stating that I refused to consult with^ anyone but Dr Payne. I offered to meet any medical man in the case with the exception of Dr Callan, and my reasons for declining to meet' the latter gentleman were such as I believed at the time to be justifiable. Dr Callan retiring from the case, I took charge of it without any delay; and on my arrival, which was about thirty hours after the commencement of the attack, I found the child in a critical.condition, lying in a state of unconsciousness—the unconscious* ness, according to the father's statement, having continued uninterruptedly, since the fits began; and this, it will be seen, does not agree with what he states in his letter; otherwise, where was the necessity for a consultation if the child was pro* grossing favorably P I may mention that j Dr Payne kindly volunteered to see the ! child gratuitously, and visited her twice , with me. It is not impossible that a conspiracy exists, but I am no party to it.— I am, &c, C. H. Huxtabl*, M.8.8., M.C.L. - Pollen street, March 12th.

Josh Billings' Philosophy.—Mother* and grandmothers, when you want your friends to use McGowan's 39 Tea, 'just skirmish ahead on that line yourself.' One pound of this example is worth a cartload of precept!. —[Adtt.]
