Melboubne, Thursday. Meat for England.
A most enthusiastic meeting of those interested in pastoral affairs was held to-day for the purpose of promoting a company to engage in the meat freezing process. After some discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
Melbourne, This day. Governor Weld goes to the
Straits Settlement.
It is stated that Governor Weld has accepted the Governorship of Straits Settlement, in succession to Sir William Robinson, who has gone to Western Australia.
Sydney, Thursday. Another obstructive Upper
House.
The Stamp Duties Bill which was sent a second time to the Legislative; Council, has been again rejected by that Chamber on Constitutional grounds.
In consequence of the Council's rejection of the Stamp Bill, the Hon. Sir H. Parkes intends to take action for the purpose of indicating the privileges of the Assembly.
