Death of Mr Pitkethley.
Last evening about 7.30 Mr George Pitkethley, so well known in Shortland, breathed his last at his residence, Augustus street. Mr Pitkethley har been ailing for some time, and his complaint of late so gained upon him that little hopes were entertained that he would recover. As an engineer the deceased wps looked upon as a most experienced workman, and hit quiet, unobtrusive, and agreeable manners made him liked and respected by all who were brought into contact with him in business matters. He was one of the earliest residents of the Thames, and his loss' will be deeply felt by his many old friends and acquaintances. The deceased was a member of Lodge Sir W. Scott, the brethren of which will accompany his
body to-morrow morning to the steamer which takes it to Auckland, as it was his wish to be ; buried in that city. The funeral will leave his late residence at 8 o'clock to-morrow morning.
