ON THE ADVISABILITY OF MILITARY TRAINING.
(To the Editor of ;the Evening Star.) Sib,—-I was pleased to see by a leading article in your issue of the Bth inst. that the Board of Education had refused to sanction the formation of a cadet corps composed of boys attending the Waiotahi District Schools, and I do think they hare , acted wisely in ..this matter. They already pay "an instructor to teach the children the rudiments of drill and calisthenics, and I hear that gymnastic apparatus will soon be ready for use at the Waio Karaka school. Surely this is quite sufficient for all the children excepting a very few of the older boys, who, with the consent of their parents, pan join either of the cadet companies already formed and in working order. And many of us do not wish our children to receive at school _. the strict military training so urgentlj . recommended in your newspaper.—l am,, &c, A Pi-BENT. .
