The members of the Civil Service Commission have been appointed and comprise Sir E. Douglas, A. Saunders andT. Kelly, M'sH.E., and C. Pharazyn. The Commission to act will be presented to them to-day. The Commission to decide upon the best means of promoting local industries will be appointed"shortly.
The Kail way Com nission commenced its sitting this morning. Mr Curtis was elected chairman. Mr Edward Downey was appointed secretary, and Mr Mitchell shorthand reporter. The Commission then adjourned. The Commission will visit several parts of the colony after concluding its sitting here.
The Minister for Public Works left for Picton and the West Coast ports this evening, to thoroughly investigate the system of working railways in those districts.
