The South Canterbury Times makes merry orer Auckland's recent visitations. Was it Montaign who said there was always some consolation in the misfortunes of others ? Referring to the Mormons, French immigrants, and pleuro pneumonia, our Canterbury contemporary says:—lt seems as if Auckland has been specially selected for the wrath of an insulted arch fiend, and if so, the sooner the inhabitants betake themselres to propitiating the offended one in a sensible manner the better."
