In another column we mention the facr that the Caledonian Company have made arrangements with the County Council for the purchase of the mine and battery. All parties are to be congratulated upon the result. There is now a chance for the field to progress, and a few days should see the Big Pump going, and the Caledonian mine fully manned. In fact the consequences of this arraugement may be for the field incalculable — perhaps a return of the olden days when gold was plentiful, dividends frequent, and prosperty attending the numerous and contented inhabitants of this district.
