The Australian Cup was run for to-day. Sixteen horses started. It was a very fine race. Columbus ... ... ... 1 Petrea ... ... ... 2 Zambesi ... ... ... 3 Time: Four mins. six sees. The favourites were nowhere. A very heavy shower fell before the race. Sydney, Thursday. The Legislative Assembly last night refused to vote the salary for an assistant to the private secretary to the Governor' or an increase to the salary and forage for aide-de-camp. Strong exception was taken to the statement of Sir Henry Parkes, Premier, that the increase had been submitted in compliance with a minute from the Governor.
