Secretary Mr WiLiiAM Wyiie. -This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other 1 suitable locality) on the most favorable, terms i and conditions, with a view of supplying to i some extent the great and increasing demand | for small holdings for bona fide settlement. As soon as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries, arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon ata general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of.(£400) sterling. ' The Provisional Directors will endeavor to i' induce the Government to grant to members i of, the Association such, modifications of the i land on deJerred-pajmeat clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation . by bona fide settlers and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The.Provisional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample'reserves for religious, educational, recreation, -and; public health purposes, as suggested by the' Minister of Lands to. the deputation which lately waited upon the . Government .with- the . view of bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. \ \ The'payment's'are to be computed on some well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10), years.'' Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten percentum of the total value of the share of. land' he applies for before his application can be entertained,, and a further payment of two percentum per' month on said total value until such time as the block to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association shall make arrangements with the -Government for allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that, such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application. , All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial' Bank of New Zealand to the Asso-« ciation's account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made by' cheque against such account without the authority and signature of the Treusurer," one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. . .Agents, or Acting-Directors, for the Asso-. ciation will also, be appointed in all the contres" of population throughout the provincial district as soon-as practicable! As soon as,, in the opinion oftHe Provisional Directory, a sufficient number of shares are applied foj\. a general meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purpose of passing and adopting permanont rules and by-laws or article? of Association for the future guidance. of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent Board of Directors and Management*. If the Provisional Directors are unable to make satisfactory arrangements with the Government, or from any other cause they find that they are unable fco carry out the scheme suggested by this prospectus, they may return to each subscriber the amount of his subscription witli accrued interest, less his share of the expenses or liabilities then incurred. As it is of the utmost importance and imperatively necessary that no. time should be lost in organising the business of the Association, the Provisional Directory therefore stipulate that the list of subscribing members should be finally closed not laler than the 31st January, 1880. Terms of proposal and application for shares and other information connected with the Association may be procured from the Provisional Directors, the Secretary pro tent, or at the Wellington Workiug Men's Club, Lambton Quay.
