Coromandel Mining.

Union Beach.—Several tribute partiei have taken up sections of the lower workings, and they are verj sanguine of success, but at present they can hardly be said to have got fairly to work.' I hear that some are highly pleased with their prospects. The surface tributers (Nor* man's party) are making fair progress taking out their block. Bright Smile.—The manager is accumulating a large, quantity of good crushing dirt in the paddocks. He is now driving on two branch leaders, from which excellent prospects are obtained. New Golden Pah.—The manager i« still vigorously d pushing prospecting work at the 90 foot level, but the result is very unsatisfactory at present. Tokatea.—The manager is still driving on the No. 2 reef. . Small patches of gold are met with every few feet, but only in sufficient quantity to be payable. However, it is'earnest of better things. There are several parties of tributers working surface sections with a fair amount of success At length there appears to be some prospect of starting the low level. The manager has been instructed to prepare plans and specifications for the erection of the " rock-drill," which will greatly facilitate the driving operations. Royal Oak.—The manager is still getting very good stuff from the new leader. Patches of good specimens coma to hand at every breaking down. The country is very tight, consequently progress is slow. Some 2001bs of specimens were crushed early in the month,; and yielded the splendid return of 1620zi of gold.

Antwis and Pahtt's Claim.—This ground, formerly known as Nelly's Lease, was part of the Premier Company's ground, and was forfeited a short time ago by the Mining Inspector for nonworking. When the present parties took it up, a drive was entered from the flat, several leaders being cut and tested* It was determined to drive on the one which gave the best prospects. This was done, and the leader found to enlarge considerably, and the prospect also. Some very rich stone was obtained near the floor of the drive, which decided the party to sink. A winze was sunk 20 feet, and four tons of stuff obtained therefrom, and crushed at the B.aoh battery, yielding a splendid return of Slow of gold. It is intended to sink another £0 feet before opening out.— Herald.
