The Oppressive Tariff introduced by Squatting, Bank of New Zealand nominee Government, who were reinstated for the express purpose of abolishing the Land Tax and lay the burthens on the mass of the people. The Financial Statement is like the Ministry—a shame, delusion, and a snare,— invented as an excuse for levying extra black mail on the necessaries of life.

We are now reluctantly compelled to raise the prices on a number of articles in consequence of this new taxation, but we live in hope that next session will see the deposition of the enemies of the people and re-instate-ment of the Genuine Liberals, who will distribute taxation on a juster principle.
