Thames Harbor Board.

The annual meeting of the Board "was. held at ucon to-day. ,- Present—The Ohiviroifn (M> Brown), the Mayor, Messrs McG-owan, Leydon, Bagaall, Wilson, and Osbovxiiv. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. Afc the last meeting of the Board a resolution was earned that the collection of the Harbour Dues bo let by tender. A committee was appointed, and drew up a report on the matter. This rgpoit was brought up for consideration. ' ' i Mr Osborno moved his notice of motion j that the resolution passed lust meeting re the collection of dues etc., be rescinded, and that it be resolved'that the dues be collected by -the Harbour Master. He said the matter was fully discussed at the

committee meeting, and he would place it in the bauds ot the Board wiih the the greatest confidence.

Mr Bagnall second d. He said he was not at all sanguine that the collection of the toll by the Board was a better plan than that at present pursued, but he thought it would be well to try it &s an experimentMr Brown spoke strongly in favor.of the resolution. Mr Leydon moved as a v amendment that the decision on this matter be post, poncd till next meeting. He said they would' then know what they would do about the goods shed and coa' yaid at Shortland, and they might call tenders for the lot at once. After some discussion it was decided to postpone ihe matter. BYE-LAWS. The Board authorised the Secretary to have the Bye-laws printed. NO POWEB. The Secreta y reported that the Board had no power to prevent the Shortland Bawn?ill Co. stopping up the Shortland channel with their logs. '" '' SHOKItASD CHANNEL. Mr Leydon asked the Chapman or exChairman had anything been done to raise the money to clear the-Shortland channel.

Mr Leydon. said he had hea I'd that Mr Stone was willing to advance the money to sUaighten the channel to be repaid by certain rents he paid to the Board. The Chsinnan poin'ed out the revenues of the Board were pledged. : Mr Osboiae said that some Auckland, gentlemen were using influence to raise the money, and he thought that the matter eou'd be ar-.aaged if lime was allowed.
