The Thames Representatives for Nelson.

The shootists who will represent the

various volunteer companies of the Thames, hare been closely attending to"1 rifle practice daring the week prior to their departure for Nelson, and they hare all made scores of a very High order. By the Rotomahana today, four members, who are representatives of the Naval Brigade, started en route for Nelson. They had|their final practice at the local range yesterday as follows :—

-■'■•::. 200 300 400/ 500 ,'TI. 1. Thomas '>.;; 19 16 19 18'—72 J. Paralow ;;;; 17 17;: 19 18 —71 Armstrong .;. 17 17 18 17 -~ .69 .]^^aMou.;^■;y■;„.■•lß;■■ 1■";16v;;^.17;^■1.;!16;^4;67 Five shots were fired at each range, and such scoring speaks hopefully for the Carbine.Belt coming to the Thames again when the Champion (Lieut. Gordon) and three others, beside those already mentioned- are included in the coming contest. The two members who will represent the Engineers are in good form, and may safely be calculated to make good scoring in the Carbine Matches. We have great hopes that the Rifle Belt will be wou- by some of our local men. McKee of the Bangers, in,- his last praotice scored 55 points out of a possible 60, at twbi four, and five hundred yards. The representatives of the Thames Scottish have been doing good practice, notably, Fenton, Downie add Weir, who will we believe be well supported by Price, Penk, Cochrane and others.
