Tbis Association is promoted with th« object of securing for its members freehold farms in .the Waimate Plains (or some, other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view, of supplying to some extent the great and increasing demand , - for small holdings for iona fide settlement. As soon as the block, is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it -will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot*or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon at b general meeting of the sub* scribing members of the proposed Association, in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Founds (£100)* sterling, and • maximum value of (£400) sterling. ' The Provisional Direction will endeavor to induce the Government to. grant to members of the Association such modifications of the fond on dfferred-payment clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by lona fide settlers and subscriber* without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Pro* visional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and publio health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately 1 waited x upon the Government with the view of bringing 4his scheme under their notice and ' favorable consideration. - - ■
The payments are to be computed oh some well-defined, liberal, and" easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say - not less than ten (10) years. Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a ram equal to ten percentum of the total Talue of the Bbare of land he applies for before hii application can be entertained, and a further payment of two percentum per month on said total value until such time as the block to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time. as the Association shall make,.arrangements.with the Gtovern--1 ment for allotting land to the subscriber*, provided always that such monthly payment* of two peroentum do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application. __ - " „ AH monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of New. Zealand to the Association's account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees^ on fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawal! or payments to be- made by cheque against rack account without the authority and signature of the. i Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. . ' Agents, or Acting-Directors, for the! Association will also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the provincial district as soon as practicable. As soon as, in the opinion of the Provisional Directory, a sufficient niimber of ■hares are' applied foe, a general meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purpose of passing and adopting permanent rules and by-laws or article* of Association for the future guidance of the Association, and also for the- election of a permanent Board of - Directors and Management. . ''•!■' - If the Provisional Directors are unable to make satisfactory- ariangements with the Government, or from any other cause they find that they are unable to carry out the scheme suggested by this prospectus, they may return to each subscriber the amou&t of his subscription with accrued interest, less his share of the expenses or liabilities then inourred. As it iB of the utmost importance and.imperatively necessary that no time should be lost in.organising the business of' the Association, the Provisional Directory therefore stipulate that the lift of subscribing mem* : bers should be finally closed not later than the 31st January, 1880. , Terms of proposal and. application ■ for shares and other information oonnected with the Association may be' procured from the Provisional Directors, the Secretary pro tetn, or at the Wellington Working Men's Club, Lambton Quay.
