Thames Sigh School.
A. meeting of the Governors of the Thames High School was held this morning in the Borough Council" Chambers. Present—His Worship the Mayor, in the the chair, L>r Kiigour, Messrs, Speight, McOuilongh, Brown and Brodie.
The minutes of previous meetings were read and confirmed, after which a letter was read -from Mr Adams, the head master, making a number of suggestion 6, and enclosing a copy of nn advertisement to be inserted notifying the date of opeuing of the school.
A long discussion took place upon the question of fees to be charged, but eventually the following was agreed to :—£B 8s per year for one scholar ; £14 14s for two children of the one family, and £18 ! 18s for three children, and any greater ' number by arrange men I. i SCHOLARSHIPS. It was decided to grant two scholarships. 1o be held for three years, one to. a boy and one to a girl, to be open to all the children attending the public school?, and the examination for the same 'o be hHd on sowe Hnt« tai'nrp f,h<» oponi')^ >>f ihr •"Chool'. A long <!■ bare took plftop or, liie matter whether ihf scholarships were to be offered yearly, some of the governors being of opiuion that it would tend to the advancement of the school were they offered yearly and only tenable for one year. However, it was decided to make the terra 3 years. Mr Ehreufried said he would girc a scholarship for 3 years, and Mr Speight made the offer of one for one year. A second application was made to the Government for the rote of £1500 to enable, the Board to proceed with the' furnishing and fitting up of the school for the scholars by the fifth of April.
