This Association if promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or sone. other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view of supplying to some extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for bona fide settlement. As soon as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, bj lot or otherwise, according to rules to be. agreed upon at a general meeting of the sub* scribing members of the proposed Association , in selections of a minimum value of One 1 Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a ; maximum value of (£400) sterling. Ihe Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the land on drferrcd-payment clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by bona fide settlers and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those, dames. The Provisional Directors will also endeavor to make I provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of . Lands to the deputation which lately -waited upon the Government with the view c&? bringing > this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. Ihe payments arerto be computed on some well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10) years.. Bach subscribing member will be. required to deposit a sum equal to ten percentum of the total value of the share of land he applies for before his application can be entertained, and a further payment of two percentum per month on said total value until such time v as the block to be applied for is acquired by the AseooiaI tion, and possession can be given to applii cants, or until such time as the Association shall make arrangements with the Govern* ment for allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a further period than six months from date of applica-" tion. All monies received are to be paid into the - Colonial Sank of Hew Zealand to the Association's account, to be opened in the name ofHfh'e Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing, interest, and no withdrawals or payments to - be made by cheque' against such account I without the authority* and signature of the . I Treasurer, one .'of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. ' Agents, or Acting-Directors, for the Association- will also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the provincial district as soon as practicable. •' : As soon as, in • the opinion pf the Provisional Directory, a sufficient number of shares are applied foe, a general meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purpose of passing and adopting permanent rules and by-laws or article? of Association for the future guidance of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent Board of Directors and Management.. If the Provisional Directors are unable to make satisfactory arrangements with the. Government, or from any other cause they find that they are unable to carry out the- ;' scheme suggested by this prospectus, they may return to each subscriber the amount of his subscription with accrued interest, lets his share of the expenses or liabilities then -_ incurred. . As it is' of the utmost importance and imperatively necessary that no time should be . lost in organising the business of tbe Association, the Provisional Directory therefore \ , stipulate that the list of subscribing members should be finally closed not later than the 31st January, 1880. Terms of proposal and application for shares and other information connected with the Association may be procured from the Provisional Directors, the Secretary pro tern, or at tho Wellington Working Men's Club, Lambton Quay.
