A TALE OF THE PACIFIC.
Win. Opperman, Esq., a wealthy island trader, was for some jnontbs lying ill at Happemamma, Bn. island of the Kingsm i Group, in .the Pacific. He had been seized with rheumatic fever, which was followed by complicated disorders of a terribly severe nature, assuming the form of a species of palsy never before known. The sufferer's limbs swelled, the legs lost all sensibility to pain; the foot could be wrenched round or the skin pierced with a lance without in* dieting the slightest Buffering. The sick nun was evidently unconscious of bit having legs, and his brain was seriously affected as if with lunacy. In this deplorable state be was kindly brought from the islands to Auck* land by Mr E. Henderson in the schooner Coronet, Captain Moeller, and, being a German, he was received by the German Consul, G. Ton der Heyde, Esq., and placed in the District Hospital, where he received treatment for three weeks with no indication of improvement, his case being pronounced by one and all a hopeless one.,.
The captain of the 'Coronet, knowing that extraordinary cures had been effected by the use of Hi tokens' Celebrated Blood Restorer requested the proprietor of the Blood Beetorer to take the cage in hand, and a contraot waa entered into of "No cure, no pay." Mr Hitchens proceeded to the Hospital, ex* amined the invalid and found him in an apparently dying state, with scarcely a spark of life left. Mr Hitchens ordered the suffering man to be re* moved to bis (Mr H'b) private residence, where his wants could be personally attended •toby Mr Hitchens. The latter administered the medicine (the Blood Restorer) and used the ointment freely. Meanwhile clergymen called, , ronouncing the eaee beyond the power of man. to effect a cure. However, after six weeks the effect. of the medicine became wonderfully apparent. The Blood Restorer had acted steadily bat surely en tbe blood; the deadly impurities were gradually eliminated from the syotem until the stream of life flowed unchecked in its natural channels over the entire man. The brain became clear and active, and the limbs once again rejoiced in natural circulation, the patient rising to his feet cured of diseases whioh had baffled the skill of leading physicians, a living proof of the wonderful healing powers of Kitchens' Celebrated Blood Restorer. TESTIMONIAL. Auckland, N.Z. To H. A. H. Hitchens, Esq. Before leaving Auckland on my return voyage to the Islands, I have to perform the pleasing duty of acknowledging tho surprising cure I have received at your hands. Coming to Auckland as I did a dying man, being palsied and generally unconscious, and hearing from others that no hope of recovery 1 was held out by medical men, I look upon you now as the preserver of my life. • • I am convinced that to your medicine alone is due Che credft for my now being a living man. I beg to thank you most sincerely for the kindness you bate shewn me' while staying in your house, and in conclusion would earnestly recommend sick people to use your Blood Restorer, as it is (he most extraordinary purifier of the blood I ever heard of, or met with in my travels. It is one of tbe many good giffs of a beneficent Creator to his suffering children on this earth. W. OPPBRMAN. Auckland, December 19,1879.
