The fortnightly retorting was tioish«d

on Saturday afternoon for the yield of 3310zs gold. 300 tons were crushed. The company's battery continues to be kept fully employed. Some encourage* ment has been met with in the tunnel level. The purchase of the Nonpareil ground was referred to some time ago, and the manager has extended a cross-cut into this section, and a nice six inch leader showing colors of gold has been intersected. The big reef- has also much improved in appearance. The weekly report of the manager is as follows :— "Tunnel Level.-—ln driving south the big reef has a more encouraging appearance, the stone being darker t-nd containing more mundic. Nonpareil cross-cut has been extended 42 feet during the past fortnight, and we have intersected a leader six iucbes thick showing colors of gold, i When the cross-cut is sufficiently ad- | vanced this leader will be driven on. 80-feet Level.—The stopes on No. 3 reef are still giving good payable stuff. la driving a cross-cut north from here two months since I mentioned Having inter* sected a reef. This is now being driven on west, and for a distance of 30 feet it does not show any improvement. There is nothing fresh to report from drives and stopes at tunnel and inten mediate levels, and not much stoping has been done this fortnight on foot-wall branch of No. 3. which usually pro* duced half the picked stone. V* c have been making a level and putting in timber along the stope so that quartz can be sent direct to the battery. This work has caused our present yield of gold to fall below previous returns. Point Russell.-— The creek level has been further exten^i 48 feet along the reef, which is nowluSfe, feet thick, but low grade stuff. Driving the past fortnight we have crushed 300 tons, including 2cwt. picked stone, yielding the return of 3310zs retorted gold.— I am, &c , Kobt.' Coveb.
