The question of making some provision for the Wellington unemployed is now receiving the careful consideration of the Government.

The meeting of the unemployed immigrants yesterday lapsed owing to the convenor of the meeting not being present. The/ hold another meeting next week.
Young Scott, the pedestrian, started on his task of walking seven miles in one hour last night. The youth walked well throughout and covered half the distance i'u 30o>ins. ssees., the seven miles occupying GOmins. 45secs. It is thought that Scott had not sufficiently recovered from his long walk to undertake such a 'Vast race. Scott's'exhibition of walking here have been very successful, and he, along with his trainer (Mr Austin,) leave for the south by the Eingarooma to morrow. Ie is understood Scott returns here early next month, when he will essay to walk 112 miles in 24 hours, prior, to his meeting Edwards at Sydney. ' - . r This day. Dr Lemon has received a cablegram that there are two Irish Relief Funds, one with the Lord Mayor of Dublin at its head, and the other with the Duchess of Marlborough.
