As is shown from the following interesting TALE OF THE PACIFIC! A TALE OF THE PACIFIC. Wm. Opperiuan, Eeq., a wealthy island trader,, was for ionic months lying ill at Happemamma, au island of the Kingsmill Group, in the PaciGo. He had been seized with rheumatic fever r which was followed by complicated di-orders of a terribly severe nature, assuming the form of a species of palsy never before known. The sufferer's limbs swelled, the legs lost all sensibility to ' pain; the foot could be wrenched reund or the skin pierced with a lance without inflicting the slightest suffering. The sick man was evidently unconscious of bi« having legs, ■ and his.brain was seriously affected as if with lunaoy. In this deplorable state he was kindly brought from the islands to Aack> land by Mr H. Henderson in the schooner Coronet, Captain Moeller, and, being a German, he iw received by the German , Consul, G. Yon der Heyde, Esq., and placed . in the District Hospital, where* he received . treatment for three weeks with do indication of improvement, his case being pronounced by one and all a hopeless one. -~ The captain of the Coronet, knowing that extraordinary oures had been effected by the - uee of Hitcbens' Celebrated -Blood Restorer requested the proprietor of the Blood Restorer _ to take the case in band, and a contrast was entered into of. " No. cure, no pay." Mr Hitchens proceeded to the Hospital, ex* * amined the invalid and found him in an apparently dying state, with scarcely - a epark of- life left. Mr Hitchens ordered the suffering man to be removed to his (Mr H's) private residence, wbere his wants could be personally attended . to by Mr Hitebens. The latter administered the medicine (the Blood Restorer) and usti the ointment freely. Meanwhile clergymen called, {.renouncing the case beyond the power of man. to effeot a cure. However, after six weeks the effect of the medicine became wonderfully apparent. The Blood Restorer had acted steadily bat surely en the blood; the deadly impurities were gradually eliminated from the system until the si ream of life flowed unchecked in . its natural channels over the eutire man. The bruin became clear and active, and the limbs once again rejoiced in natural circula- - tion, the patient rising to his feet cured of diseases which had bullied the skill of leading physicians, a living proof of the wonderful healing powers of Hitchens'. Celebrated Blood Restorer.. TESTIMONIAL. Auckland, N.Z. To H. A. H. Hitchenß, Esq. ' Before leaving Auckland on my return j Toyage to the Islands, I have to perform the j pleasing duty of acknowledging the surprising ; cure I Save received at your hands. Coming to Auckland as I xlid a dying man, being palaied and generally uncousciout, and bearing from others that no hope of. recovery was beld out by medical men, I look upon you now as the preserver of my life. I am convinced that to your medicine alone is due tKe credit for my now being a -living roau. I beg to thank you most siuoerely for ' the kindness you have sbewn me while' staying in your houee, and in conclusion would earnestly recommend Bick people to use your Blood Restorer, as it is the most extraordinary purifier of the blood I oTor heard of, or met with in my travels. It is one of the many good gifts of a beneficent Creator to his suffering children on this earth. W. OPPBRMAN. , Auckland, December 19,1870. Signed in the presence of Or.
