A Money Lender tripped up.
At the Police b'ourt tins morning Michael Murphy, a voted money lender, was committed i'oi- trial on a charge of obtaining two guineas by false pretences in paying to a client; the money he was advancing on the renewal of a mortgage. He stated he had paid E. H. Alpord the two guineas for valuing the property, and this was proved to be false. From the eridence it appeard Murphy charged £2 for a loan of £8 for three or (our days.
A constable named Caraher was fined Is and costs 20s, for kicking a man named Blevritt whom he had arrested for using obscene language.
Pastor. Chiniquy commenced another series of three lectures to-iiightat the Odd Fellows' Hall.
