Yesterday,
On Saturday the Government received a telegram to the effect that a dispute had arisen in reference of the Murimotu Block between certain hapus of the Wanganui and Taupo tribes, headed by Topia and Major Kemp respectively. A nice trip. G. S. Graham, manager of the Colonial Insurance Company, left for England to-day in the Atawata, to inspect the London and India Offices of that Company. Active measures to enforce the provisions of the Employment of Females Act are on foot, and it is understood that three publicans are to be proceeded against for allowing their barmaids to remain in the bar after 11 p.m.
The Union Steam Shipping Company have presented the New Zealand Rifle Association with a handsome 30 guinea cup to be fired for in the company's match, No. 16, at Nelson. Entries aro now being received, and it is fully expected that 200 competitors will be present.

At the inquest on the body of Cochrane, drowned on Monday, a verdict of " Accidentally drowned " was returned. »
At the R.M. Court this morning Edwd. Blythe, bookmaker, was charged with indecent conduct in the Botanical Gardens and insulting the keeper. The former charge was dismissed, but on the latter he was fined 2us.
Mclvor, the owner of race horses, was fined £2 for assaulting Weston, a bookmaker.
