This Association is promoted with, the object of securing for its members freehold farms iv the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with ft. view of supplying to gome extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for hona fide settlement. Ab soon as the block iß.decidecl upon,'and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned* by lot or otherwise, according to rules to bo agreed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the land on deferred-payment clauees of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by lona fide sealers and subscribe™ without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Pro* visional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands, to ihe deputation which lately waited •upon the Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. The payments are to be computed on Borne well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10) years. Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten percentum of the total .value of the share of land he applies for before his application can be entertained, and a further payment of two percentum per month on said total.value until such time as the block to be applied for is acquired by the AsßOcia"tioir,~ anti-possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association ehall make arrangements with the Government for allotbing land to the subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a further ' period than six months from date of applica- ,- tion. All monies received are to.be paid into the Colonial Bank of New Zealand to the Association's account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawals'or payments to be made by cheque against suck account .without the authority and signature of the Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. Agents, or Acting-Directors, for the Association will also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the provincial district as Boon as practicable. As soon as, in the opinion of the Provisional Directory, a sufficient number of shares arf< applied foi:, a general meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purpose of passing and adopting permanent rules and by-laws or articles .of Association for the future guidance of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent \Board of Directors and Management. If the Provisional Directors are unable to make satisfactory arrangements with, the Government, or, from any other cause they find that they are unable to carry put the scheme suggested by this prospectus, they may return to each subscriber the amount of his subscription with accrued interest, leis bis share of the expenses or liabilities then incurred. As it ia of tho utmost importance and imperatively necessary tlmt no time should be lost in organising the businoss of the Association, the Provisional Directory therefore stipulate that tho list of subscribing members should, bo finally closed not later than the 31et January, 1880. . Terms of proposal and application, for shares aud other information connected with the Association may be procured from the Provisional Directors, the Secretary pro tern, or at the Wellington Working Men's Club, Xminbton Quay.
