This Association is promoted with the object of Becuring for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditionsi with a view of supplying to some extent tbe great and increasing demand for small holdings for bona fide .settlement. As soon as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rifes to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing, members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Gi-overnmerifc to grent to members of the Association such modifications of the land on deferred-payment clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by hona fide settlers and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the preeeut provisions of those clauses. The Provisional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and public health purposes,, as suggested by the Minister of lands to the deputation which lately waited upon the Government with tbe view of bringing this scheme voder their notice and favorable consideration. ' The payments are to be computed on some well'defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10) yearß. Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten pereentum of the total value of the share of land he applies for before hia application can be entertained, and a further payment of two pereentum per month on said total value until such time-as the block to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and poßeeesion can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association ehall make arrangements with the Government for allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that euch monthly payments of two yercentum. do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application. All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of New Zealand to the Association's account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made by cheque against such account without the authority and signature of the Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. .Agents, or Acting-Directors, for the Association will also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the proviuO'al district as soon as practicable. ■ As soon as,»in" the opinion of the Provisional Directory, a sufficient number of shares are applied foe, a general meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purppee of passing and adopting permanent rules and by-laws or article? of Association for the future guidance of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent Board of Directors and Management. If the Provisional Directors are unable to make satisfactory arrangements with the Government, or frpm any other cause they find that they are unable to carry out the scheme suggested by this prospectus, they may return to each subscriber the amoui.t of his subscription with accrued interest, less his share of the expenses or liabilities then incurred. As it is of the utmosfimportance and imperatively necesoary that no time should be loßfc in organising the business of the Association, the Provisional Directory therefore .stipulate that the list of subscribing rr>em« ;bers should be finally closed not later than "the 31at January, 1880.
