Yesterday.
The farmers are taking advantage of the fine weather, and are burning oft' the bush which was felled a few months ago. A gentleman who rode in from Hawera yesterday states that the bush was burning at some places on both sides of the road, rendering it very warm for travellers.
There is a slight tendency to a rise in grass seed, which is still low in price, namely, 3d to 3jd per lb. Seed off an ordinary crop costs 3d to cut it.
A considerable quantity of iungi is coming in. 34 bales' were shipped this morning by the steamer.
