This Association is promoted with _!the objeot of securing for its members, freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some' other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms~^_ and conditions, with a view of supplying to some extent the great and increasing demand for small - holdings for lona ,/Scfe settlement. As soon as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the sub* scribing members of the proposed Association 1 in selections of a minimum value of One . Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. i The Provisional Directors will endeavor to ' induce the Government to grant to members i of the Association such modifications of the land on "deferred-pa; ment clauses of the i Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation I bjlona fide settlers and subscribers without, necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses; The Pro- . visional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational,' recreation, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited ' upon the Government with the view of 1 bringing this scheme under their notice and. 1 favorable consideration. The payments are to be computed on some well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10) years. Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten percentum of the total value ofthe share of land he applies for before bis ; application can be entertained, and a further i payment of two percentum per month on — i said total value until such time as the block to be applied for is acquired by the Associa- . tion, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association shall make arrangements with the Government for allotting land to the subscribers, { provided always that such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application. ."•'"■'■■■■■. ■ ■ ■■■ \ , All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of New Zealand to the Association's aoooHnt, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing * interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made by cheque' against such account without the authority and signature of the Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. Agents, or Acting-Directors, for the Association will also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the provin- racial district as soon as practicable. As soon as, in the opinion of the Provisional Directory, a sufficient number of shares are applied foe, a general meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purpose of passing and adopting permanent rules and by-laws or article? of Association for the , future guidance of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent Board of Directors aud Management If the Provisional Directors are unable to make satisfactory arrangements with the Government) or from, any other cause they find that they are unable to carry out the scheme suggested by this prospectus, they may return to each subscriber the amount of his Bubfcription with accrued interest, less his share of the expenses or liabilities then incurred.' As it is of the utmost importance and imperatively necessary that no time should he' lost in organising the business of the Association, the Provisional Directory therefore stipulate that the list of subscribing members should be finally closed not later than the 31st January, 1880. Terms of proposal and application for shares and other information connected with the Association may be procured from the Provisional Directors, the Secretary pro tern, or at the Wellington Working Men's Club,' Lambton Quay.
