The Sydney Irish Belief Committee remitted £3500 to Dublin. Tooth, the brewer, subscribed £500, and the Bank of New South Wales tha same.

Active, but unsuccessful efforts were made to secure the reprieve ofEogan, who was fully identified as having been twice convicted in Victoria. A member of the jury requested Lord Loftus to give full effect to the recommendation of mercy which included fiogan. SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
Parliament has prorogued till Maren 12th. The expenditure of the country' for the last year showed an increase of £226,000 over the corresponding period of last year, while the increase in revenue was only £69,000.
Several farm labourers at Greenock were fined for torturing a little boy by locking him in a reaping machine, and compelling him to remain there for 10 minutes, while the machine was at work. It was done in order to make the boy confess where he planted some stolen money. "...:"
A quantity of wreckage was discovered 4 miles westward of the Great Australian. A board was found lettered Cray en brock, but it is believed the name was Wrongly reported, and is possibly Craigendarrock. The Government bare given notice of the resumption of nearly five thousand square miles of country, now leased m pastoral purposes.
